Georgia NRCS Conservation Programs

Georgia farmers are encouraged to participate in this year's portfolio of conservation programs. More than $17.4 million is available in cost-share funds and additional dollars are available through national grants for conservation innovation and partnership initiatives.

Below is a list of due dates for the state and national programs. Producers may want to check the Georgia web site for the most current information. www.ga.nrcs.usda.gov .

Georgia will also hold four information workshops on the Conservation Security Program. The workshop schedule is as follows:

Feb. 14 6:30-9:00 pm So. Ga. Tech. College , Americus
Feb. 15 7:00-9:00 pm Crisp Co. Ag. Center, Cordele
Feb. 22 7:00-9:00 pm McClendon Barn, Hwy, 37 West, Leary

Due to anticipated Conservation Security Signup, EQIP applications will be due a little later for these counties.

National funding is available through Conservation Innovation Grants (Proposals due March 28, 2005 ) and the Conservation Partnership Initiative (CPI) (Proposals due Feb. 17, 2005 ). Information on these two opportunities can be found on the national NRCS web-site at www.nrcs.usda.gov
